For many women the time they spend in refuge allows them some breathing space to evaluate what they want to do next, they may have had time to work through some of the issues and practical challenges and sort out the belongings they may have left behind and find somewhere to live. For others who fled with nothing more than the clothes on their back they are starting from absolute scratch...fortunately for an increasing number of women, organisations like Assist a Sista are coordinating donations of all manner of goods to help women to re-establish a home.
