Vice Secretary of the provincial Party Committee Tran Van Minh has just had a meeting with the Son Tinh district government and relevant agencies on difficulties in compensation, site clearance and resettlement for VSIP project in Son Tinh district. At the meeting, Chairman of Son Tinh DPC Pham Vinh reported on the implementation of compensation assistance, resettlement and site clearance for construction projects of the VSIP phases 1A and 1B and difficulties in these works. As reported, the VSIP Project 1A has total area of 168 ha with the compensation value of over 197 billion VND. 39 affected households have not yet agreed to choose the location of resettlement, 40 households did not receive compensation due to benefits related to their employment and land for resettlement and production. At the meeting, the representative of VSIP Quang Ngai proposed leaders of Son Tinh district and Quang Ngai province for quickly resolving compensation, support and resettlement in order to hand over land as scheduled. Addressing at the meeting, Vice Secretary Minh appreciated the efforts made by Son Tinh district authority and VSIP leaders in compensation, site clearance and resettlement for the VSIP Industrial project. He also pointed out the shortcomings related to compensation, support and resettlement clearance. Minh asked Son Tinh district authority to use all available resources to mobilize local people to comply with the provisions of compensation, further promote propaganda and explain regulations to the local people; accelerate the construction schedule and research suitable resettlement models for the local people.
