Vicki Davis husband got Beagle hounds for hunting and Vicki had been training Labs. When training methods began to change she decided to try an experiment. She resolved to train one of the Beagles using some of the new methods. Her first Beagle picked up on attention and retrieving quickly. She went on to get a UD, MACH2 and was invited to one of the first National Obedience Invitationals. Her current dog Elmer is now eight years old. His first novice show was a very hot weekend but Elmer did well and went High in Trial with a score of 198. Elmer is very food motivated - a good thing for anyone who trains alone. Elmer also has an impressive repertoire of tricks; sneezing, crawling, etc. All of Vickis dogs are from the same breeder - Kathy Carlins Echo Run Kennel. After eight rings this weekend, Elmer has no NQs.
