Victim Dies from Injuries Sustained During Shooting (Fayetteville, NC) – Detectives with the FPD received notification moments ago that Paul Chappell (B/M, 25 years of age) died at Cape Fear Valley Medical Center from injuries sustained during the shooting earlier this evening on Person Street. Detectives have a suspect in custody in connection with the shooting death and additional information to include the name and charges will be forthcoming. Aggravated Assault (Fayetteville, NC) – On Wednesday, December 17, 2014 at approximately 4:30 pm, officers with the Fayetteville Police Department responded to the area of 235 Person Street in reference to a report of an individual having been shot. The preliminary investigation revealed that the victim was driving a silver Chevrolet Impala near the Person Street / Cool Spring Street intersection, when an argument ensued inside of the vehicle. The suspect exited the vehicle, produced a handgun and shot the victim inside of the vehicle. The victim drove a short distance after having been shot and crashed into a parked vehicle in the parking lot of 235 Person Street. The victim was transported to Cape Fear Valley Medical and is listed in critical condition. The victim’s name is being withheld until his immediate family has been notified.
