Victor, whose Patron Saint is commemorated today, writes: St Porphyrios of Kavsokalyvia, canonized last year, is a recent elder of the Eastern Orthodox Church whose feast day is today (Dec 2). His fervent love for Christ and for his brethren led God to grant him many gifts of the Spirit, including spiritual discernment, allowing him to bring many to repentance back to the Lord. Always giving advice relevant to each persons soul, the Saint gave himself tirelessly to the service of others his entire life, never complaining even when he suffered many grave illnesses near the end of his life. He reposed in the Lord in 1991. I have included a photo of my patron Saint. May his memory be eternal and may he pray for each of us.
