Victoria Severe Weather Warning for damaging winds for people in the North East, South West, Central, West and South Gippsland and East Gippsland forecast districts Issued on Thursday 15 August 2013. Weather Situation A strong cold front will cross Bight waters on Friday to reach the far west of the State at night then rapidly progress eastwards over the remainder of the State on Saturday morning. Damaging winds around 65 km/h with peak gusts of 100 km/h are forecast to develop on Friday morning for parts of the North East, South West, Central, West and South Gippsland and East Gippsland forecast districts. On Friday evening wind gusts to 120 km/h are possible above 1000 metres in the northeast. The State Emergency Service advises that people should: Move vehicles under cover or away from trees. Secure or put away loose items around your house, yard and balcony. Keep clear of fallen power lines. For emergency help in floods and storms, ring your local SES Unit on 132 500.
