Victoria is such a dichotomy. There is beauty and calm and ocean and green and lush nature...smiling people everywhere you look...but there are also so many desperate, mentally ill, and homeless people. Every day I walk the same route home, and every day I see the same faces and new ones too, pleading for help and compassion. Some seem just down and out...some so obviously very very sick. I am determined not to forget how very lucky I am. I cant help but think about the homeless in Alberta who have to endure the fast approaching freezing cold temperatures...one tiny reprieve for the homeless here I suppose. Sometimes it gets to my heart more than others. Today was one of those days.
