VietNamNet Bridge – Low-cost carrier VietJet will offer thousands of tickets either for free or with big discount rates at the International Tourism Expo 2014 (ITE) in HCM City this week, which will gather over 200 tourism agencies from nearly 20 countries. VietJet promises to gives visitors an incredible opportunity to snap up free tickets and purchase discount ones at the fare of just VND99,000 ($4.8) and VND199,000 ($9.9) during the expo, which will take place from September 11-13 at the Saigon Exhibition and Convention Center (SECC) in District 7. The promotion, which will run from 10am to 12 noon and from 2pm to 4pm every day at VietJet’s booth, applies to all of VietJet’s 27 domestic and international routes. The travel period for the promotion will last from October 1 to December 31, 2014 (excluding holidays). In addition, passengers who purchase tickets at the expo will immediately enjoy another 10 percent discount on their next ticket purchase with VietJet. The ITE HCM City 2014 edition, “Five countries, one destination”, was initiated by the Mekong Tourism Alliance, which includes Cambodia, Laos, Myanmar, Thailand and Vietnam, and aims to tap into the region’s tourism potential and strengthen cooperation between the Mekong countries regarding tourism development. As part of ITE HCM City 2014, a lantern boat festival themed “HCM City – brimming with life” will take place along the Saigon River for the first time. Furthermore, the exhibition’s organising board will grant Mekong Tourism Alliance Awards to businesses excelling in tourism in each of the five countries. This year marks the 10th anniversary of ITE HCM City. As an annual event, it serves as a platform for presenting tourism opportunities in the Mekong region and beyond, showcasing tourism products from the Asia Pacific region, which is attracting a growing number of tourism businesses.
