Vietnam is paying villagers to help protect the countrys remaining forests. “I’m part of this program because I feel a responsibility to my community and that I should protect nature,” said Mr. Nghia, who receives about 3 million dong, or $142, a year in exchange for patrolling 74 acres of state-owned land.
