Viewer Comment: Hello Stan, I love what you do and your attempts to make things better and safer in the Bay Area. Great work on the beautification process of the City of Oakland. As a resident of Oakland, you have done more than the last two Mayors combined. A few complaints about the drop box near my house: people are now behaving badly by over filling the drop boxes and throwing trash on the sidewalk and all around the box. After they removed the box today, there was some trash left behind. I also seen a guy (with no plates on his truck) nonchalantly dropping trash as if it was his right to leave it there on the street, even without the drop box! What an idiot! Who was he expecting was going to put the debris in the box, even if the city or Waste Management did bring the box back to the same locale? I think that program was a great idea but not very well thought out. We are now giving people (from all over the Bay Area) a license to come to where the bins are and make a mess of the area, but now instead of doing it in the dark or surreptitiously , now they have a sense of entitlement and just leave their trash without second thought. Someone needs to monitor those locations with drop boxes, because they are leaving a bigger mess. Something to take back to the citys beautification committee as feedback or input.
