Viewer Seeking Advice: Hi I would just like some advice. I had an a c section on thursday and our baby was born at 31 weeks - before the c section all the staff were amazing and promised me that I would be put on a post natal ward after due to our little one needing to be in special care. They moved me out of recovery 6 hours after the op and put me on the maternity ward with other birthing mums and where mums have got their babies - yet I was told his would not happen. Our little one will be in the neonatal ward for a while as he was so small and was early. How do you deal with the distress of trying to recover an op trying to express, and dealing with the fact you dont have your baby all while other women have their babies and you hear them cry. Im very distressed but the midwifes say the post natal ward is full and they cant move me. Ive got high blood pressure so will be in for a while. Ive had panic attacks due to the amount of distress of being around mums and babies this has not made this experience nice at all and my poor husband has to leave me in a state as he cant even stay with me. Im totally disguised with the care. I was told last night I could not be taken to see my baby as they was short staffed and no one could help me up apart from my husband. So not only did I get put with mums I was refused to see mine. I was finally taken to see our baby at 10pm as one of the midwifes knew I had not seen him and was very kind my poor husband has been left to help me to the loo and make sure Im ok as the ward is so short staffed. At least we have the amazing team in the neonatal ward to thank for doing such a great job with our little boy. Apologies for long rant message but I needed to know if other mums have had this experience and what they did to cope? LW*
