Villa and Simba share spoils Uganda Premier League SC Villa 1-1 Simba Karim Ndugwa’s second minute goal wasn’t enough to give Villa victory against Simba. Ndugwa’s eighth goal of the season came when Ronald Kaggwa’s cross found him rightly positioned in the Simba box and rose over the defenders to head past Sempagi Harrison. He got an opportunity to double his lead in the fourth minute, again connecting to a cross from Kaggwa but this time his header went just wide. Villa kept pressing to extend the lead but were lucky not to concede on a counter-attack in the 19th minute, with Ali Kimera tipping over Robert Nakyenalire’s powerful shot. Ivan ‘Kaloolo’ Kiwewa, who came on for the injured David Bagole, also had his chance in the 40th minute but failed to beat Sempagi in the visitors’ goal. The second half kicked off with Simba showing more intent. Gerald Bagoole’s pass found Ezekiel Katende inside the Villa box but also failed to beat Kimera in the 63rd minute. Villa launched a counter-attack through Fred Nkata, but his cross to Ndugwa also failed to yield a fruit. Simba’s persistence paid off in the 81st minute when Alex Witaba found Ivan Kisekka at the edge of the box. Kisekka made no mistake; he released a fierce shot that left Kimera asking for answers from his defenders. Villa pressed for the lead and almost came in the 90th minute. Villa’s cries for a penalty were waved away and instead got a freekick just outside the box. Nkata stepped up for it but failed to curl his ball past the Simba wall. “We did not play well. The injury to Bagole in the first half cost us; Bengo (Steven) wasn’t in the game from the first minute. Generally it was a poor performance,” said Coach Sam Ssimbwa.
