Vincent Pendapala ShimutwikeniUniversity of Namibia (Student Representative Council) 2 hrs · S.G,Wilhelem Madax Wilhelem Feedback on the NSFAF meeting(held 23/01/2015) NSFAF LOAN HOLDERS Facts of the matter: A number of Students are unable to register, due to non-payment of loans by NSFAF, the University took a decision that all continuing students with outstanding balance will not be allowed to register for 2015 academic year, until all fees are settled, and the due date of registration is the 4th February 2015. As a result of the decision of the University, and non-payment by NSFAF, hundreds of students are then left in the cold NSFAF point of View NSFAF held that non-payment of loans is a result of names omitted from the master list forwarded to NSFAF by UNAM, meaning some students were omitted from the list that was forwarded to NSFAF, and NSFAF will not make payment if a student’s name is not on the submitted list. Another fact that contributed to non-payment are errors on the proof of registration and academic records submitted to NSFAF. Wayforward: NSFAF has indicated their commitment to make payment, however both NSFAF and UNAM are unable to identify the students who are affected, by such errors committed by both UNAM and NSFAF. NSFAF is prepaid to make payment, the only difficulty is that NSFAF is unable to identify and determine the students whose payment need to be made, as both UNAM and NSFAF do not have an accurate list. The only way we can come up with an accurate list is through the following resolution; 1. All UNAM students, NSFAF LOAN HOLDERS who are unable to register due to outstanding payment, or refused registration on the grounds of non-payment by NSFAF, must urgently take their correct academic record to the NSFAF offices and likewise those that never failed but loans are not settled. 2.NSFAF will generate a daily list of students who went to their offices to ratify the errors with regards to non-payment of their loans, payment for those student be done on a daily bases by NASFAF in order to minimize the University debts. 3.A daily list will then be forwarded to the UNIVERSITY, attached on the list will be a commitment note, confirming payment that is effected administratively as a promissory note. 4.If a student’s name appear on the daily list forwarded to UNAM, such student will then be allowed to register. NB: This was what the meeting agreed for NSFAF to propose to UNAM Management pending approval by VCMC. Students are advised to talk to report their loan related issues to NSFAF so that they are recorded accordingly by NSFAF. We hope they will provide the letter for VCMC not later than Monday, 26 January 2015. Regards #copiedAndpasted
