Visually Impaired not Left Out The Messenger of Allah (sal Allahu alaihi wa sallam) said: “Hearken to the invitation and come join the congregation.” [Sahih Muslim, Masaajid] One day, a visually impaired person named Abdullah came to the Messenger of Allah (sal Allahu alaihi wa sallam) and asked, “O Rasulullah! I do not have anyone to take me to the Masjid. Could you allow me to offer my prayer at home?” The Messenger of Allah (sal Allahu alaihi wa sallam) allowed him to do so. When Abdullah (radi Allahu anhu) turned to leave, the Messenger of Allah (sal Allahu alaihi wa sallam) asked, “Can you hear the Adhan calling for the prayer?” Abdullah answered, “Yes.” Then the Messenger of Allah (sal Allahu alaihi wa sallam) said: “Then hearken to the invitation (Hayya al as-salaah, Hayya al al-falah) and come join the congregation.” [Muslim, Masaajid] If there were a fabulous banquet being hosted, would we want someone we really liked to stay home because they were having difficulty coming, or would we ask them to try their best to come? Prayer in congregation is dinner for the soul. We are made up of two parts each; body and soul. We can’t afford to neglect our souls any more than we can afford to neglect our bodies. The souls that are nourished (by worship) and kept clean (of sins) will be worthy of entry to Paradise. So join the congregation for prayer if you want the banquets of Paradise. Hayya al as-salaah, Hayya al al-falah - Come for prayer, Come to success, prosperity and happiness!
