Vlad was a little brown and white ferret. He had a little brother and a baby sister. He had lots of adventures with his humans. Like road trips to the beach and far away cities. He went to parks and pet stores and sometimes human stores. He had lots of toys to play with. Tunnels and balls and things that squeak. But his favorite toy was a little stuffed brown ferret. He would pretend it was a real ferret. Vlad carried Stuffy around the house with him. He would take him to the food bowl when was time to eat. He would wrestle with Stuffy under the couch. At night time, Vlad would carry Stuffy to bed with him and curl up beside him. I wish you were real Vlad whispered to Stuffy. We would have so much fun together. Every night Stuffy would run and play and wrestle with Vlad in his dreams. But every morning Stuffy would still be a stuffed toy. One day, Vlad would think, One day, you will be real, Stuffy. Then he would run off to play with his little brother and baby sister, pulling Stuffy with him. One day, Vlads human came home with a small plastic carrier. Vlad knew what carriers were. He had a big one that he and little brother and baby sister traveled in. This seemed awfully small for three ferrets. Vlad looked inside. He was surprised when two black eyes stared back at him. Vlad jumped back. The black eyes keep watching him. Vlad moved closer and sniffed. A little pink nose sniffed back. Then the door opened and brown and white ferret cautiously stuck his head out. Vlad blinked. It looked like Stuffy. Only this ferret moved. Vlad looked across the playroom. Stuffy was right where Vlad had left him. Vlad turned back to the carrier. The ferret was now in the playroom, walking around. Vlad, this is your new brother , Gunny. Hes a little older than you. His human said. Vlad was so excited he did a happy little flip. Vlad showed Gunny around the playroom. He took him to the food dish and water fountain. Vlad told Gunny about all the good food and treats they got. He showed Gunny the big box of toys. He took Gunny around the house after the humans opened the playroom door. He showed Gunny were all the best hiding places were: the kitchen cabnets, behind the boxes in the closet, under the couch. That night Vlad showed Gunny his favorite place to sleep: curled up in the humans dresser drawer. Vlad gave a happy little sigh as the two ferrets snuggled up together. From that day on, the two were inseperable. Im glad youre here, Gunny. Vlad whispered. Then he drifted off to sleep, dreaming of all the adventures they would have. As for Stuffy, he was just as happy to play with little brother and baby sister and be the toy he was.
