Volunteer this Saturday September 27, 2014 from 8:00 am - until. Please bring hard rakes and gloves if you have them. The Downtown Goldsboro Artifact Recovery Project is unique and was established to share the discoveries of Downtown Goldsboros rich history with everyone. This is an opportunity to recover and display the artifacts that have remained buried beneath the paved streets of Historic Goldsboro from the early 1800s to the early 1900s. The current Street-scape and Union Station projects have provided us this rare opportunity. The artifacts found within this Time Capsule will belong to the city of Goldsboro and displayed in our newly renovated Wayne County Museum for all to view. Please note that NO ONE is allowed on the street-scape site on Center Street, Walnut Street or Union Station. We are able to work safely on the satellite site located on HWY 70 west next to McDonalds. The soil removed from the street-scape site will be inspected for artifacts which remain the property of the city. NOTE: The site is posted and monitored by local law enforcement. Participants must be approved before entering the site. A signed liability wavier is also required before being allowed on the site. No one is allowed on the site without approval and then only during scheduled work times. Kirk Keller (President of the Wayne County Historical Association)
