Voting is an inalienable right in this country, one that should be - TopicsExpress

Voting is an inalienable right in this country, one that should be exercised by everyone who is able and willing. But occasionally lost in the calls to “get out and vote!” is the weight of responsibility inherent in casting a ballot. Please, take the time to educate yourself before voting today. Learn the issues, look over the arguments, research the candidates, and think about their impact on you and others. Every vote matters, so please do not take the action lightly. There is no shame in leaving an item blank because you don’t feel like you fully understand the issue, or don’t recognize the names on the ballot. Do your best on the things you can, and start a little earlier next year. There’s no “participation award” for filling out all the bubbles. This isn’t about voting the “right” or “wrong” way, or challenging people’s choices, or telling people not to vote. This is about treating an honored and protected right with the respect it deserves. Thank you for being honest, and please—go vote.
