Voting results are in, many didnt get the results we were looking for, we cant focus too long on it, here are some things we can do to start seeing changes. Dont become discourage and feel powerless. 1. Attend your childrens school PTA and Board of Education meetings. Stay in the know about whats going on. Also most school systems offer parents the opportunity to serve on school councils and complete parent surveys. 2. Join a community civic league: over the years Ive seen how small groups of dedicated individuals can make changes in community. 3. Use social media to your advantage: if you know of upcoming positive events or even something that is corrupt: post it. The viral world is real and a great way to spread information. 4. Support your local positive groups and organizations. These grass roots groups can lead to positive change. 5. Empower yourself by going to your local city council meetings, you will have a chance to speak and voice your opinion. You will hear about the things that are impacting your community and sometimes learn about grants and other opportunities that are available to you.
