#WA #TropicalCyclone #Outlook #Corp Tropical Cyclone Outlook for the Western Region Issued at 12:50 pm WST on Saturday 1 March 2014 for the period until midnight WST Tuesday 4 March 2014. Existing Cyclones in the Western Region: Nil. Potential Cyclones: A weakening low pressure system is located at 16.4S 96.4E, around 460km south of the Cocos Islands. This system is moving westwards and is not expected to develop into a tropical cyclone, however; winds may reach near gale force strength in the southern side before moving west of 90E longitude. Likelihood of this system being a tropical cyclone in the Western Region on: Sunday Low Monday Very Low Tuesday Very Low There are no other significant tropical lows in the region. Next week, another weak low pressure system may drift westwards from the Northern Region into the Western Region, near the northern Kimberley. Given time over the warm ocean waters, there is a risk this system may begin to develop. Likelihood of this system being a tropical cyclone in the Western Region on: Sunday Very Low Monday Very Low Tuesday Low NOTES: The likelihood is an estimate of the chance of each system being a tropical cyclone in the Region for each day. Very Low: less than 5% Moderate: 20 to 50% Low: 5% to 20% High: over 50% The Western Region refers to the Indian Ocean between Longitudes 90-125E and south of 10S.
