When it comes to the language ideas Yahya has a point. The emotional point that he makes is however not thought through properly, its part of Yahyas Britain bashing and its another desperate attempt to stay relevant. Ridding ourselves of our colonial past is something that should be done at some point, but FIRST we need to manage to deliver education in any one language before trying to change the language of instruction. Having said this it is next to insane that our kids go into school with no English and are expected to get good grades without having anyone explain things to them in their mother tongue. We need better induction to English in our schools, because at this point English is as much of an obstruction as a benefit to us - in terms of education. Then at some point in the future, when we have standardised writing of our languages, we can look at solutions with several official languages such as the arrangement in Switzerland. - Baboucarr Kora 9/3/14
