WARNING: ANOTHER POTENTIAL CAN OF WORMS (hopefully not to the previous scale) The more I drive in Sydney (roughly 2 to 3 days a week), the more I see a huge difference in driver attitude between Sydney and Newcastle. Can someone explain why, when changing or merging between lanes, entering into traffic or really any change of road position that involves more than 1 car, many (not all) novocastrians, feel the need to speed up, block, abuse and generally get their knickers in a knot over what is such a simple manoeuvre? I find when dealing with Sydney traffic, there is almost no reason to check a blind spot because someone will always let you in, merging between lanes do not become a battle fit for the Middle East and pulling into traffic from a driveway takes seconds, not what can feel like hours. Please help me understand why the more relaxed and smaller city seems to breed such aggressive and selfish driving traits?
