WARNING: Graphic. Again, short video to put yourself in each persons shoes and learn some lessons. Lots of Active Self Protection to go around here. Found this video through Mr. Colion Noir, who I respect highly. This is a terrible tragedy. ASP lessons: 1. Dont get drunk in public. Thats what starts this whole thing. I mean it. Being drunk in public is a bad idea. Bad for starting a fight with a cabbie, terrible for deciding to pummel another first responder. 2. Dont fight a cop. Let the lawyers figure it out afterwards, friends. Seriously. Dont fight a cop. Be polite, be respectful, and realize that if you fight a cop you may well wind up dead. Someone will argue that the policeman shouldnt have used a knee to the back of the head. He was exhausted at that point and trying to control the belligerent bad guy so he didnt have to kill him. If Mr. Drunk Fireman hadnt resisted so much before it never would have been needed. Dont fight a cop. 3. Notice in the story in the link below that the officer was blacking out and ended up with a broken eye socket and a bunch of injuries. Fights can go bad in a hurry, but he showed great restraint. The firearm is a tool of last resort. This was his last resort, so he used it. 4. Two to the center of mass does a good job of stopping a young, strong, belligerent, drunk assailant. It didnt kill him immediately, but it stopped the fight. 5. If you see an officer having a fight with a suspect and it goes like this, OFFER YOUR HELP! He asked for help. He was exhausted. He may not have had to kill this guy if the dude with the cell phone taking video had been a true Good Samaritan and helped. Instead he wanted to get a cop in trouble, so he took video. He bears some moral responsibility for this guys death because if he had helped the cop get him in cuffs earlier, the whole story changes, the drunk never gets to beat the cops head in, and no shots are fired.
