[WARNING: SELF-INDULGENT AND VERY BORING STATUS UPDATE AHEAD] So, the past few days have been pretty awesome. Raúl and I have digitally proofed the first 280 pages of the designed interior for The Doors You Mark Are Your Own, which clocks in at 713 pages in actual book formatting. Alban Fischer is one of the best design ninjas out there and puts up with my zillion neurotic needs with a saintly patience. Also, there are several potentially huge things that might happen for the novel out in the world -- though we have to keep them all under our hats until they come through (or dont). In other book news, The Cartographers Ink remains in Amazons top-twenty hot new releases in poetry 25 days after its release, still competing with some of the hugest names out there, like Ted Kooser and Louise Glück who both had books out on the same day. I know its largely you guys here on FB keeping my baby-beastie in the fight, so I thank you all heartily for the support. Anyone who kvetches about social media needs to have my friends on here to know how supportive the world can be. And, finally, I got word today that a quite generous contract for a one-month visiting scholar gig to teach a seminar next year on Holocaust literature at a nice liberal arts college in Canada is headed my way. The money will hopefully pay for my move and resettling for whatever more permanent gig I get from the four zillion applications I am sending out this market season. Okay...back to your regularly scheduled interneting...
