WCHE NEWS - At its meeting Wednesday night, Downingtown Borough Council debated what to include in a Request For Quote for Solicitor. Councilwoman Ann Feldman suggested requiring law firms to disclose their political affiliations and any disciplinary actions that have been filed against them. Council President Chip Gazzerro and Mayor Josh Maxwell argued against Feldman’s suggestion saying it was unnecessary and unprecedented. Municipal Finance Attorney Thomas McNeil supported Feldman. He said firms are often asked to disclose political ties and criminal backgrounds. McNeil works for the borough’s interim solicitor firm Lamb McErlane. Council opted to not include Feldman’s suggestion in the RFQ. Council plans to appoint a permanent solicitor at its meeting January 7th. Follow @FrankWCHE for all the latest news and information.
