WCHE NEWS - Chester County is the first county in Pennsylvania to receive full accreditation for its Department of Emergency Services. The Emergency Management Accreditation Program Commission touted the county for its ability to bring together various personnel, resources and communications in preparation for, and in response to a disaster. Director of Emergency Services Edward J. Atkins said, “Earning this accreditation validates the exceptional work of the 208 Department employees and the county’s 5,000 emergency responders.” To achieve the five-year accreditation, emergency management programs must comply with industry standards and undergo a peer-review assessment.
