WDL Update: My buddy, Mossy Oak Alex showed up at my house yesterday around 3:30, last day of muzzleloader season. As usual, he wanted to go out and scruff something, so we loaded up the Accura MR and he grabbed the 17 HMR for a spot and stalk for squirrels, deer, coyotes, possums, crows, gerbils...whatever decided to get in his way. I had a doe tag so I was to shoot a doe and he was going to scruff anything else, the other was to video the hunt. Well, after our 2nd ten minute sit after walking back to Trophy Rock, Mossy Oak spotted something walking up the ridge. At first he thought it was a doe, so I threw him the camera and got ready for powder time. The deer turned and started trotting toward us and Alex said Its a coyote!!! Big bucks excite Mossy Oak, but a close second is the coyote. The song dog comes down to the bottom of the gully and stops for a second, I hear Alex say Im on him so I let the MR bark. The shot found its mark through the front shoulder, exiting the ribs on the far side. He dropped like a bag of hammers. It was all high fives after that. Alex and I decided we are going to have this one mounted. I regret he didnt get to take the shot, but we are going to do some serious coyote hunting soon with his 22-250. Thanks, Mossy Oak!!
