WE ARE CALLED TO MAKE JESUS FAMOUS AND LIVE ONLY FOR HIS APPROVAL. People love to win the approval of others, so we often talk a lot about ourselves. When we boast about what we do, we fall in the dangerous zone of COMPARING OURSELVES with others. People find their identity in what they do, INSTEAD of who they are and who God meant them to be...Paul addressed the issue of those who come in and boast about what they have accomplished for the church in Corinth. They bragged so much about what they have achieved that they started to COMPARE THEMSELVES WITH EACH OTHER. Therefore Paul said, those who started to compare themselves with each other, are really missing the point. It is not about what they have done for the Lord that they should be boasting about. But rather they should be boasting ABOUT THE LORD. It is quite easy to started measuring ourselves with each other about what we do for Jesus, that we actually forget the focus is not you but Him. I love this reminder, sometimes I have to check my own heart and motivation of why I do things? It is quite easy to try to take the glory for the work when the reality it is really about Jesus. God spoke also to the prophet Jeremiah when he said, This is what the LORD says: Let not the wise man boast of his wisdom or the strong man boast of his strength or the rich man boast of his riches, 24 but let him who boasts boast about this: that he understands and knows me, that I am the LORD, who exercises kindness, justice and righteousness on earth, for in these I delight, declares the LORD. (Jeremiah 9:23--24) We maybe someone in our own eyes when we measure ourselves with others, but God sees it very different. We must boast more and more about the Lord. Talk about his goodness. Talk about his saving grace. Talk about his provision. Talk about his salvation. Talk about how good he is. Making God famous is what we are called to do. Paul ended this by saying..IT IS NOT HE WHO COMMENDS HIMSELF THAT IS APPROVED, BUT HE WHOM THE LORD COMMENDS. It is one thing to approved ourselves, but it is quite another when it is God who approves us. I am reminded of another scripture from Psalmist when he said...6For no one on earth—from east or west, or even from the wilderness—should raise a defiant fist.a 7It is God alone who judges; he decides who will rise and who will fall.(Psalms 75) Lets do this family. Let us focus our boasting on Jesus. Let us not be so concerned with what we do and our reputation. Let us focus on MAKING JESUS FAMOUS, and let him APPROVE YOU. Dont worry about whether people will notice what you do or not. Worry about whether people see JESUS in what we do. Amen! (2Corinthians 10:12--18)
