WE STRONGLY CONDEMN NAVEEN PATTNAIK GOVTS BUS FARE HIKE WHICH IS A BIG BURDEN OVER THE COMMON PEOPLE AND STUDENT COMMUNITY DEPENDING UPON THIS TRANSPORT EVERYDAY. WE DEMAND A QUICK REVERSAL OF THIS FARE HIKE. IF THE GOVT FAILS TO REVERSE THE ORDER WE SUGGEST MR NAVEEN PATTNAIK TO IMMEDIATELY START A BIJU SULABHA JATAYATA YOJANA PROVIDING SUFFICIENT NUMBER OF BUSES IN WHICH POOR PEOPLE,STUDENTS,SR CITIZENS COULD TRAVEL AT A NOMINAL FARE OR FREE. For the knowledge of the readers I would like to inform that in Kolkata which is a metropolitan city, the transport cost is much much lesser than the fare levied in Odisha especially the state capital JNURM buses. In June this year I was on a visit to Kolkata. From Howrah station I had to go to a place named Garhia located at a distance of 22 KM. I rode a bus to travel nearing 16 KM paying a fare amount ₹8/- only. Thereafter for another 6 KM in a shared autorickshaw I had to pay another ₹8/- only. What about Bhubaneswar ? In JNURM bus from Master Canteen to Rajmahal Sqare the conductor will charge ₹6/-, to Raj Bhavan ₹8/- and to Fire Station ₹12/- : the distances being 2, 4 & 8 KM respectively. The fare between BBSR & Cuttack is now ₹25/- (distance is 22 KM). Hence imagine the burden over students,daily wage labourers,somebody taking a patient to SCBMCH or AIIMS, and other daily commuters as well. Since NP Govt has made a policy to concentrate all major public facilities such as medical college hospitals,academic institutes and others only in Bhubaneswar, people from different parts of the state have no choice but to come to the capital (Cuttack for SCBMCH,SISHU BHAVAN,HIGH COURT) for getting a service. How much one has to pay in travel now besides other expenses ? A government which has got the mandate of the people for the 4TH consecutive time should remain grateful to them and expected to serve them more efficiently. Its perhaps living in a fools paradise expecting a Govt Black faced with Land & Chit Fund scams to do something good.
