**WEATHER ALERT**: WED NIGHT/THURS AREA: NATIONWIDE RISK: MODERATE TO SEVERE STORM? Maybe its time to upgrade from a weather watch to an alert (not a warning) as there is still some questions remaining over the intensity and track of the midweek storm. As we pointed out in our weather watch yesterday it will remain difficult to offer detailed information on likely conditions or severity or lack of until we are within 48hrs of the event. At this stage the majority of models have the system tracking over Ireland just after midnight on Thursday morning with the strongest wind field off western and southern coasts. Without trying to scare monger, a common sense approach to this alert would be checklist the property over the coming day or two especially for coastal dwellers (risk of coastal flooding) and those living on exposed hills and sites. Check for the likes of loose roof tiles, fences, and broken bows on trees etc and loose items around your property, secure them. Take note if your property is at risk of coastal flooding in the past as there is a strong risk of coastal breaches. No harm in giving your property the once over even if this system does not live up to current expectations. Current data which is between a moderate to a possible severe event in some areas of Ireland. Ideally this should be a continued weather watch but for no other reason than rather be safe than sorry we have upgraded to an alert. Tomorrow nights update will be at 9pm. Hopefully we wont have to issue a severe warning we would rather be posting a downgrade to this system. STORM CONFIDENCE: 80% MODERATE: 50% SEVERE STORM: 50%
