WEATHER BULLETIN NUMBER ELEVEN TROPICAL CYCLONE WARNING: TROPICAL STORM “#MarioPH” (FUNG-WONG) ISSUED AT 11:00 AM, 20 SEPTEMBER 2014 (Valid for broadcast until the next bulletin to be issued at 11PM today) Tropical Storm “MARIO” has intensified slightly as it moves towards Southern Taiwan. LOCATION OF EYE/CENTER: At 10:00 AM today, the center of Tropical Storm “MARIO” was estimated based on radar and other available data at 143 km North Northwest of Laoag City (19.4°N, 120.1°E). STRENGTH: Maximum sustained winds of 105 kph near the center and gustiness of up to 135 kph. MOVEMENT: Forecast to move North Northeast at 15 kph. FORECAST POSITIONS: By tomorrow morning it will be at 244 km North Northwest of Itbayat, Batanes and by Monday morning it will be at 676 km North Northeast of Itbayat, Batanes or outside the Philippine Area of Responsibility (PAR). PUBLIC STORM WARNING SIGNAL # 2 (Winds of 61-100 kph is expected in at least 24 hrs) Calayan and Babuyan Group of Islands, Batanes Group of Islands, Apayao and Ilocos Norte PUBLIC STORM WARNING SIGNAL #1 (Winds of 30-60 kph is expected in at least 36 hours) Cagayan, Kalinga, Abra and Ilocos Sur - Estimated rainfall amount is from 7 – 20 mm per hour (moderate - intense) within the 350 km diameter of the Tropical Storm. - The combined effect of Southwest Monsoon and TS “MARIO” will bring moderate to strong winds over Zambales, Bataan and the rest of Northern Luzon. Morover, these areas will have moderate to occasionally heavy rains and thunderstorms which may trigger flashfloods and landslides. - Metro Manila, MIMAROPA, CALABARZON and rest of Central Luzon will have occasional rains. - Fisherfolks and those with small seacrafts are advised not to venture out over the seaboards of Luzon. - The public and the disaster risk reduction and management council concerned are advised to take appropriate actions and watch for the next bulletin to be issued at 5 PM today.
