WEATHER PARTNERS PREDICT SOME SEVERE WEATHER... SEVERE THREAT: Update This Morning A line of storms is expected to move across the area from west to east, mainly during the daytime hours today. Areas southeast of a line from Apalachicola to Valdosta may be impacted more this evening or overnight as the forward progress of the storms slows. There is a threat of severe weather with the storms. The main threats continue to be damaging winds and tornadoes. We have a Tornado Watch issued for parts of our area this morning, and that may expand east later today. The storms may produce very heavy rainfall in a short period of time. Combined with heavy rainfall in some areas yesterday, this could lead to some flash flooding. Finally, gusty southerly winds unrelated to the storms are expected well out ahead of the line of thunderstorms today in southwest Georgia, the Florida Big Bend, and the coastal Florida Panhandle. We have posted a Wind Advisory for these areas. Gusts as high as 40-50 m.p.h. cant be ruled out, so there could be some sporadic trees or power lines blown down even before you receive thunderstorms.
