WEATHER: Prepare for severe weather this Wednesday. Possibly tornadoes, High winds, Hail, and Flooding with more than 5 inches of rain possible. Our first round of spring severe storms will be coming through MD and most of the tornado threat will be to the south of Baltimore, but possible throughout the state. We will know more Tuesday afternoon so I will keep an eye on the situation and make a few updates before hand. Generally, it is that time of the year again and everyone needs to have a plan in case of severe weather. Children coming home from school by themselves need to know what to do if they are caught alone. Make plans with them and educate/train them to know how to handle the situation, where to take cover, and most importantly, how to communicate in an emergency situation. Prepare a go-bag with a battery powered weather radio, flashlights, supplies and a first aid kit, and store it in the spot in the house where you and your children will take cover during a severe storm. Also a good idea to have in the bag is a cell phone battery booster, and a list of any medications everyone is on in a water proof zip lock bag is extremely helpful to first responders. Bottled water and some snacks that will keep a long time are good to have in there too, as well as shoes. Shoes are often overlooked, but when a tornado hits you do not have time to find them, so put an old pair along with some gloves in your shelter spot as well.
