WEATHER SUMMARY FOR SOUTHERN OREGON AND NORTHERN CALIFORNIA A cold front that is part of a system that went into Canada is approaching the coast this morning and spreading cloudiness out in front of it. I know it looks pretty cloudy out there and would seem to threaten rain. But, what we are seeing is mostly high clouds that will serve as a screen to the sun and keep things on the very pleasant side today. We will have the slight chance for a light shower or sprinkles this morning. That turns into a chance for showers and thunderstorms this afternoon and into tonight. The bulk of that action will be over the mountains, east of the Cascades, and down in Northern California. An isolated shower or storm could happen in the valleys west of the Cascades, but the chance for that is pretty low. For the Coastal areas, look for a marine air push tonight that should persist through the weekend bringing low clouds and the chance for drizzle or even some light embedded showers. That will especially be the case the further north you go. The Gold Beach and Brookings areas will be drier than areas from Coos Bay north. A weak ridge will build over us tonight and that will last until Monday. That will give us sunshine and temps in the 80s for Saturday and Sunday. Another trough moves in on Memorial Day. This one is going to affect us only in the cooling us down to near normal temperatures. The Coast and points north will be seeing a chance for showers on Memorial Day and then through Wednesday. But, the inland areas of Southwest Oregon will enjoy sunny skies. Next week is looking like a great week to do anything outdoors as temps will be right where they should be in the upper 70s.
