WEATHER SUMMARY FOR SOUTHERN OREGON AND NORTHERN - TopicsExpress

WEATHER SUMMARY FOR SOUTHERN OREGON AND NORTHERN CALIFORNIA Today looks like it is going to be the warmest day for the next week, and quite possibly for the rest of June as things are shaping up in the long range forecast. While 90 seems very much on the warm to even hot side, the average high in Medford for today is 85. That puts a little perspective to it. So not really hot now by climatological standards. A trough is going to approach us today in the upper levels of the atmosphere. This is going to be the trigger for first breezy conditions today, and then widespread low clouds west of the Cascades tomorrow morning. That will mean about 10 degrees of cooling from the highs today. Saturday will see us warm back up into the upper 80s and we look to be there through Wednesday of next week. And that is where we are now expecting to see our weather change yet again. A very good low with a deep trough is going to set up off the coast and it is not going to be in a hurry to clear out the way things look now. This will set us up to see unsettled weather with a good chance for showers over the entire area. The chances for showers will be increasing as we move out in time. Taking a look at a week from Saturday for example, it is looking like showers are going to be likely even down into Northern California. It would appear that if you want to do something in the outdoors, this coming weekend is going to be your weekend to do it as the final weekend of June looks as if it will be soggy at this point. For a month when it was feared that we might see 100 degree temps and the possibility of dry lightning storms breaking out, June has proven that long range forecasting is always a big roll of he dice, no matter how strong indications are looking. There are always wild cards that come into play. It is looking like this June is going to settle into one being pretty much dead on normal for both temperatures and precipitation by the time it is over and done.
