With the development of civilization man started using the same for household and domestic purposes. And when industrial revolution started in Europe, he used textiles for motion transmission, filtering media and so on. Hence the textiles which were used in different industries came to be known as industrial textiles. But this name didn’t suit to all the textiles which were used for purposes other than clothing and household. Now with very daring developments in textiles, many terms have been put forward like functional textiles, performance textiles, invisible textiles…As a result, the term technical textiles have emerged as the most widely accepted compromised term.
