WEDNESDAY 29 JANUARY 2014 “WHEN THE WICKED ARE MULTIPLIED” Good morning my dear friend. Welcome again to Wisdom Speaks Daily Devotional. Today the voice of Wisdom comes to us from the book of Proverbs chapter 29 verse 16: When the wicked are multiplied, transgression increases; but the righteous will see their fall. [NKJV] Sometime late last year I had a dream that seemed like a real life experience. It describes how Satan plans to multiply the spirit of the anti-Christ in these last days in order to increase his attack against the cause of Christ in the nations of the world. The strategy plans to use is so terrifying that I began to pray against it. Even though it is evidently clear that Satan is really preparing to use that strategy against the Church, the Lord has assured me through the revelation of His infallible Word that even that strategy of Satan will ultimately fail. For it is written, “And upon this rock I will build My Church, and the gates of Hell shall not prevail against it.” (Matthew 16:18 KJV). The Word of God is like fire that burns the chaff of satanic intimidations, and like the hammer that breaks the rocks of satanic lies to pieces. Hallelujah! The multiplication of the wicked in the nations of the world and the resultant increase in transgression or iniquity or sin is only a matter of time. The Scripture never says “IF the wicked are multiplied…”, it actually says “WHEN the wicked are multiplied…”. Satan aims at increasing sin or lawlessness in the world by increasing the workers of iniquity, the wicked ones, so as to bring about the coldness of the love of many believers dwelling in the nations of the world. For Jesus Christ says this about the last days, “And because lawlessness will abound, the love of many will grow cold.” (Matthew 24:12 NKJV). And Apostle Paul writing by divine inspiration also testified saying, “But know this, that in the last days perilous times will come. For [people] will be lovers of themselves, lovers of money, boasters, proud, blasphemers, disobedient to parents, unthankful, unholy, unloving, unforgiving, slanderers, without self-control, brutal, despisers of good, traitors, headstrong, haughty, lovers of pleasure rather than the lovers of God, having a form of godliness but denying its power…this sort are those who creep into households and make captives of gullible women loaded down with sins, led away by various lusts.” (2Timothy 3:1-6). And as if that was not terrifying enough Paul concluded saying, “But evil [people] and impostors will grow worse and worse, deceiving and being deceived.” (2Timothy 3:13). So we are assured that the wicked or lawless ones will be multiplied by the arch-wicked that transgression or lawlessness or sin may increase on earth and so make life more and more difficult for the righteous ones dwelling in the nations of the world. But the Scripture also gives the righteous ones one settled and unchangeable assurance: they will see the fall or destruction of the wicked ones in spite of their multiplicity and power. The righteous will have the final and ultimate victory and the last laugh. Consider the following prophetic words of the Holy Spirit through the pen of King David: “For yet a little while and the wicked shall be no more; indeed, you will look carefully for his place, but it shall be no more. But the meek shall inherit the earth, and shall delight themselves in the abundance of peace… But the wicked shall perish; and the enemies of the LORD, like the splendor of the meadows, shall vanish. Into smoke they shall vanish away… I have seen the wicked in great power, and spreading himself like a native green tree. Yet he passed away, and behold, he was no more; indeed I sought him, but he could not be found. Mark the blameless [person], and observe the upright; for the future of that [person] is peace.” (Psalm 37:10-11,20,35-37 NKJV) Therefore we know that the reign of lawlessness and wickedness on earth is certainly timed—it will not be forever. No matter how much Satan multiplies the wicked and increases transgression or lawlessness and or sin on the earth, both he and all his co-workers will certainly fall down to their destruction. And the best part of the final victory is this: “The righteous will see their fall.” Hallelujah! And now, to all the Children of God, lovers of the Righteous One and righteousness, who are presently being pained in their hearts, like righteous Lot who lived among wicked and sinful people of Sodom and Gomorrah, by the rate at which lawlessness, sin, wickedness and all other forms of anti-Christ activities are being perpetrated in the present age, the Word of God exhorts: “Rest in the LORD, and wait patiently for Him; do not fret because of him who prospers in his ways, because of the [person] who brings wicked schemes to pass. Cease from anger, and forsake wrath; do not fret—it only causes harm. Wait on the LORD, and keep His ways, and He shall exalt you to inherit the land; when the wicked are cut off, YOU SHALL SEE IT.” (Psalm 37:7-8,34 NKJV) PRAYER: My heavenly Father, I rejoice in Your Word which gives me the unshakable assurance that I will see the final fall of the wicked both in my immediate world and the larger world. I receive Your grace to remain steadfast and immovable in doing Your Word and revealed will daily irrespective of the spite and slight of the wicked ones around me. l am of God and I stand on His righteous standards, and my final victory over the anti-Christ is settled in Christ now and forever.
