WEEKLY WRAP (ROUND 1) With the VTCA calling round one fixtures off, the Moorabbin Park Cricket Club only fielded its third and fourth XI sides in the SECA. Moorabbin Park’s third XI didn’t get off to the start they were after, falling to Le Page Park at home. After being sent into bat by the visitors, they were bowled out for 106 runs just 33 overs into the allocated 35. Simon Brookhouse made 23 with Joel Lewis 17 and Matt Campbell 15. In reply, Le Page Park were simply too good reaching 7/107 with two overs to spare. Simon Bloumis took 3/34 off 8 overs with two wickets each from Matt Campbell (2/13 off 8) and Ryan Mitchell (2/1 off 1). A disappointing result to start the season and the team will be looking to bounce back next week. Moorabbin Park’s fourth XI got off to a flyer on the other hand, comfortably asserting for West Bentleigh at Victory Park. West Bentleigh were sent into bat and kept to 7/121 after their 35 overs. Second XI best player from last season Ash Becker took 3/13 off 6 overs whilst Daniel Whitby took 2/8 off 3. With the bat Moorabbin Park were too strong as they reached 2/130 in only 19 overs. James Halliwell hit 6 sixes to reach 55 retired not out with strong support from opener Jackson Pocknee (24 not out) and Tom Rodaughan (22 not out).
