WELCOME TO BARONESSJS WORLD - CELEBRITY WATCH: DR DAYO OLOMU The first Personality I shall be focusing on in this section - is the man whom I consider one of my mentors and friends. As a matter of fact, starting this site was his idea - so it is only befitting that my first blog in this section is about him. Dayo Olomu is one of the Nigerian celebrities I have the uttermost respect for. His was a name that I knew way back in the 80s when I was working at OGTV, Abeokuta. My exit from Nigeria, though, meant I never got to meet him but I followed his progress from a distance from his time at Ideas Communication Limited to when he managed King Wasiu Ayinde Marshall KWAM 1 - under his management outfit, Dayo Olomu Associates, in the early 90s. After then, I lost sight of him and it wasnt till I returned to the Events/Entertainment Industry in 2012 that I came across his name again. By then, he had taken a new direction and forged a new carreer as a Public Speaker, Trainer, MC, Toastmaster, Author etc. My very first meeting with him was at Yemi Akandes Nigeria Tourism Awareness Dinner in 2013. In my usual fashion, I walked straight up to him and introuced myself. And whatever my expectation of him was prior to that encounter, I was in no way prepared for the charm, politeness, friendliness, humility and courtesy all roled up together that come out of this wonderful human being - and that first impression of him has stayed with me ever since. No wonder Dayo Olomu is respected, admired and loved by many. A peace loving and selfless man ever ready to give valuable advice even when it isnt asked for. Dayo or My DO as I fondly call him - and I, rarely speak for more that twice a month - but our conversations can easily last up to 1 hour and each leaves me with exceedingly valuable nuggets of wisdom and inspiration. He was exceptionally helpful during my transition back into Media. His words to me, constantly, were Baroness J, you can do it, what are you waiting for? Some of the steps I have taken since I started Baroness J Media including going down the Public Speaking route - were at his suggestion. A man of true faith that sees more in people than they see in themselves, Dayo Olomu is truly deserving of all the prestigious awards and accolades that have been bestowed upon him and I for one, would not begrudge him a single one of them.
