WEll that was nightmarish. We went to ER, but because it a gjtube Radiology has to do it and they didnt have someone there that could do it. So we drove downtown to Cincinnati Childrens and we sat in a room for freaking forever, then Radiology calls us back they try and cant get the new one in, so we go back to emergency and wait for a specialist to come in, finally she was able to get it in. A GJtube is not a normal feeding tube, as I have had many ppl tell me we can put it back in, we actually cannot. A gastrojejunostomy or GJ feeding tube is a combo device that includes access to both the stomach and the jejunum (mid part of the small intestine). Typical tubes are placed in a G-tube site or stoma, with a narrower long tube continuing through the stomach and into the small intestine. The GJ-tube is used for Julian because he had risk of aspiration, cannot be fed in the stomach well, and needs to be able to drain his stomach juices. It allows the stomach to be continually vented or drained while at the same time feeding into the small intestine. Main complication of GJ-tube is movement of the long portion of the tube out of the intestine and back into the stomach and can only be replaced/fixed by Radiologist at a hospital. We are finally home!!!
