WHARF DEVELOPMENT Tonight is the meeting where Council and the Port Board will decide on how to proceed with the wharf development based on community feedback. Please, if you can, come along and have your say. Two important questions need resolving. 1.Who is going to design the building? Current concept plans have been drawn by a Geelong based firm with little or no experience with heritage architecture and restaurant design. Why not allow a shortlisted number of experienced, award winning, design based architecture firms to submit concept plans. This amazing site deserves an amazing architect. We can only benefit from exploring more design options. 2.What do we want the building to be? We need to decide as a community what the building should be. Its going to be here for 50+ years. This should involve both community and expert consultation from heritage, from chefs and from restaurant and business owners. We need to develop a new design brief that will give us the most suitable building for the site and its environment, for the potential future lease holders and for the community both now and into the future.
