WHAT DO FARMERS EXPECT FROM A GOOD FEEDING PROGRAM ? Last week i visited a progressive farmer in Kerala, a retired military official who is now into Dairy farming. He has been using our feed SR-TMR since the past 3 months or so and he is highly satisfied. Some of the concerns he told me which farmers in general express regarding any new feed/feeding program are How does the new feed affect the milk yield, milk quality and general health of the cows? How economical would be the cost of milk production ? Would it help achieve optimum reproductive efficiency ? All the right questions regarding a farmer and a Dairy farm . Without answering myself i asked him what did the farmer who had introduced him to this feed say about all these questions ? (That farmer has been using SR-TMR and SR-Protein Meal since the past 8 months) THE ANSWER: An affirmative yes regarding quality of the feed, which addressed digestive issues(SARA),improved milk fat, increased milk yields ,improved the general health condition and off course was economical. TAKE HOME MESSAGES : Farmer to farmer interaction has always been the best way to bring about any new healthy changes in the farming sector. Result demonstration and method demonstration too are very effective tools, and practicing Livestock extension people would do good in the field if they could imbibe these extension tools !!
