WHAT THE EU LEADERS AGREED TODAY AND HOW IT WILL EFFECT THE REFERENDUM None of our Scottish media seem to have picked this up yet (no surprises there) but EU leaders today took a decision which could have a major effect on the referendum. Because of the Ukraine crisis they determined to reduce their dependency on energy from Russia. A very obvious way of doing so would be to go ahead with the DC energy connector across the North Sea, a project they have been discussing for some years, that would allow the efficient transfer of energy from energy rich countries like Norway, Denmark, Sweden and Scotland to mainland Europe. Clearly worried about future energy supplies who in their right mind is now going to believe the ludicrous scare stories from BT about Scotland, the most energy rich country in the EU, being locked outside the EU? It also destroys another BT SCARE STORY about England perhaps not buying Scotlands excess energy. The problem might shortly become we might not sell you it, as we have had a better offer from the Netherlands or Germany! (By Iain Lawson)
