WHAT THE GOP HATES ABOUT THE TEA PARTY: When the media or universities or left-wing interest groups launch a campaign to push lawmakers to adopt their view on an issue, thats public spiritedness. When conservatives or tea party types try it, that extremism and excessive pressure. This double standard is so obvious that I cant see how people maintain it with a straight face, but many do. What the GOP hates about the Tea Party is the pressure they exert. When lawmakers get pressure from both sides, they cant move around as much. That should make them develop elegant compromises (that is their job, right?), but the left is so un-used to compromise or with working with lawmakers getting serious pressure from the right. Bear all of that in mind, when you read this story.
