WHATS HAPPENING IN UPPER SCHOOL SCIENCE Throughout September and - TopicsExpress

WHATS HAPPENING IN UPPER SCHOOL SCIENCE Throughout September and October, our 9th grade students have been learning about and collecting insects. They went outside many times to look for insects on the school grounds. Students also looked at home, in their yards, garages, basements, and while on hikes and outdoor excursions with family and friends. In fact, in many cases, this became a family project. The topic of insects was a jumping off point for several important ecological and biological concepts, such as taxonomy, symbiosis, adaptations for survival, introduced species, and economic importance. The ways in which insects react in nature and their methods of survival can be applied to other organisms. Their final and complete insect collections are now on display in the lobby!
