WHEN GOD IS SILENT Have you ever felt like you were talking to God and it felt like a ONE WAY conversation? You are asking questions, but no answers seem to be coming back? I read a great quote from author Beth Moore this morning that might shed some light on this: We have no idea how busy Gods hands are even when His mouth seems closed. Where God is concerned, SILENCE never equals SLUMBER. I absolutely love this reminder. We sometimes cant understand Gods purpose in not seeming to guide or direct, but then again, we dont have HIS PERSPECTIVE. A couple thoughts: 1. WITH US - There are SO MANY promises that God is WITH us - even though we may not FEEL His presence. The hardest times can be when God draws NEAREST to those who seek Him. 2. PERSIST - There are great reminders in scripture (Matthew 7:7-8) that we need to keep asking and seeking. The persistence that we are building means that our focus is still on God and His purposes for our lives. 3. MINDSET - I am constantly reminded of how our minds can bring us into defeat SO EASILY. Yet, a small decision to replace the negative thoughts with Gods truth can make all the difference. King David in writing the famous Psalm 22:1 that Jesus quoted on the cross, My God, my God. Why have you forsaken me?, later in the same Psalm says, For he has not ignored or belittled the suffering of the needy. He has not turned his back on them, but has LISTENED to their cries for help. (Psalms 22:24 NLT) If God seems silent in this season, realize that He is still acting. You are NOT ALONE. Seek Him and not just resolution to your pain. Most every time when we do, we get BOTH. HIS presence and His peace.
