WHICH INSTRUMENT ARE YOU? There is an ilk in our midst that rants and raves whenever they bump into turbulence that characterise the usual trials and tribulations that this vicious world rubs on us once in a while. They throw palpable tantrums all over (even sending an SOS on social media) as if they are the only ones who can vent out their life’s pressures and stress. And for crying out loud, can folks cut us some slack with their ubiquity of issues! Coz the truth is, this world is damn brutal-cruel and we should acquire the knowledge of navigating through it. We are literally in a ‘jungle’ where everyone is trying to create a niche for themselves with no time to pamper others and hence chances of being ‘bullied’ are high coz it’s all about shoving and jostling for dear space. Hey! With every action there is an equal and opposite reaction. (Let’s face our nemesis head On and stop whining on peeps faces). BUT let’s remember to shift our thinking from reacting to responding to situations e.g. when a patient is responding to a drug it’s a positive sign but when it’s a reaction that is a negative sign. Uninvited adversaries will gatecrash into our realm in different forms, shapes and ways. The effect of handling adversity is directly proportional to the inner capacity that we can generate when there is nothing to tackle. We can even dare play Russian roulette with life by thwarting our inner timidity with indifference. Stop any indecisive internal monologue before it starts as that is our biggest enemy. Losses, failures, heartbreaks or defeats will throw a salvo at us but none of these setbacks will besmirch us if we can control our mental dialogue. It’s said that anything we commit to with audacity is easily enhanced with more audacity. Learn to dance to the tunes in your head even when there is music all around you. Build your capacity muscle in the day of peace and increase your tolerance shock-absorbers when there is no provocation. Work on your humility stamina when it is easy to stay humble and learn to withdraw to your own cocoon even when fans want to be around you. (Intensity always defeats extensity). But if you are unsure with a course of action, don’t pursue something that will put your foot in your mouth. If one is able to learn this and make it their embodiment, they would have done themselves the greatest favour of not ending up with the shorter end of the stick in life. They would have fortified themselves against machinations or that day when things ‘might’ go haywire. It’s when one will speak victory in the midst of attack, show joy in the midst of unbelief, express hope in the midst of despair, summon strength in the midst of weakness or even exude abundance in the midst of scarcity. (Lord, make me an instrument of your peace). Note! We are in a world of differences between leaning in and sitting on, bravado and belligerence, speaking your piece of mind and screaming at the top of your lungs, being free and being loose, having independence of mind and being clearly out of your freaking noggin. Beware! Acquaintances in cahoots-with nefarious repute will whip up your emotions when you’re airing your dirty linen to settle your tiffs and then shun you, turning you into a laughing stock with peeps sniggering-snickering behind your back.
