WHISTLE, .AMBOSELI NATIONAL PARK. LOLARRASHI/OLGULULUI GROUP RANCH. KITENTEN CORRIDOR. LAND SCANDAL/CONSERVANCY/CONTROVERSIES. BACKGROUND INFO : Olgulului/Lolarashi Group Ranch is over 156,000 ha with 12,485 registered members. To visualize the perfect location of it in Loitokitok, Amboseli National Park is in the middle of this Ranch. Given its strategic location, the Ranch annually generate over kshs 24M from eco-tourism and conservation activities as revenues. This money and the resources endowment of this ranch make the committee very powerful to the extend that the big people in the constituency and previously the county council relate very well with these officials for favours and other benefits! I will inbox the issues. The community representative from the said group ranch in Kajiado south constituency complained and registered the members grievances on the dark/blind agreements involving the group ranch and an international NGO. The members of Lolarashi group ranch feared that their land might be sold without there consent by the group ranch officials/committee. Without proper consultations, the committee, senior political leaders colluded with International Fund for Animal Welfare-IF-AW and created the kitenten wildlife corridor which extends from Amboseli to Kilimanjaro Nationals parks in Tanzania. This famous corridor will allow free movement of wildlife between the two International parks was leased to IFAW without majority of members consent. The GR Officials have gone round and collected all members id card copies, passport size photo graphs and shares certificate copies. Mr Kiriama on behalf of others members is very much afraid that coz of their illiteracy, they might end up losings their land to IFAW as the officials signs all deals and agreements in Nairobi in the absent of the members. There 1600 arces owned by 160 members each with 10 arcres. According to Rev. Shardrack Kiriama, IFAW will be paying each member 6000kesh annually which translate to 500 ksh monthly, what a joke!. IFAW will build 3 lodges with over 300 bed capacity at the cost of 600 000 000.kes to cater for international arrival and members will be paid peanuts 500 monthly. The manner in which all this is being carried out in darkness leaves alot to be desired. Its alleged that each group ranch official will pocket 100 M and the senior political leaders will take away bigger/fatter cuts before the Kitenten corridor deal is sealed.
