The Green Village is currently interested in investigating the technique of making structures invisible by placing cameras on one side of the structure and projecting an image on to the other side of it using LEDs. The camera picture is now projected via the LED’s such that you can virtually look through the structure. An example can be seen with Mercedes invisible car design. As we know, many people do not like the visual impact of wind turbines. So can we make our wind turbines invisible, using LEDs and cameras? This is a real challenge, because of the dynamics of wind turbines, and the fact we view them from different angles and distances. The Green Village want to develop and realize these ‘invisible’ wind turbines. As a start they want to develop the Green Village Construction Sign, that shows that a building (such as the Green Village that will be built, or the EWI building) can be made invisible. They are looking for motivated students to take on this challenge immediately! Do you want to be a member of this ‘invisible’ team? If so, you can contact professor Ad van Wijk at: [email protected] for more information on how to get involved!
