WHO WILL BE THE PRESIDENT, How i see presidential polls 2015????? much awaited, and very much exciting day to be born in hrs whr 15000000 r registered as voters, but expect 77% will cast their votes, which is 11,500,000 around 1% will be regected, dumy candidates around obtain 100,000 leaving main 2 candidates, 11,35,000 Now to be 7th president one of main 2 should obtain more than 50% which is > 5,717,500 (58 laks) Considering Mr. President, he managed to obtain 6,015,934 during 2010. which is 57.88% and its highest percentage obtained by a president of SL. And additionaly a No of 700,000 new votes will be cast this time additional to presidential polls 2010, which increases the probability of obtaining 58 laks to cross the margin. President Mahinda Rajapakse obtained 4,887,152 (50.2%) which allowed him to just cross the margin over Mr. Ranil Wickramasinghe also with the aid of LTTE boycotting polls in Nothern province in 2005. with the popularity of victory of war, he managed to get well beyond margin in 2010. But recent polls eg: (uva provincial), states may be he is loosing his popularity, and situations are much different than 2010 so that we cant compare this election with 2010polls, and the union of multi party opposition which was able to shook basement of Rajapakse with a Mithree wave sound to be an definete threat for President, on the other hand support of JHU, TNA, democretic party, SLMC and undercover support of JVP to UNP thus to Mr. Mithree along with Formar president Chandrika and other MPs who left Government seems more eye cathing than same old war heroic stories. This also risk winning districts where President had obvious control few months back, eg. polonnaruwa, Kalutara, Puttalam, Anuradapura, Matale, Gampaha. In todays contest it is obvious president loosing his popularity again so that he brought forward the Presidential polls much earlier than required and now in a position where anyone would think all of a sudden has it backfired??????? In a situation election goes on peacefully and if that 77% or + votes been cast, ive tempted to jump into a conclusion Mr. Mithreepala will win this contest. My money is on Mr. Mithreepala Sirisena obtaining, 50 - 51% which is around 58.5 laks. and MR obtaing 55 laks.
