WHO issues EBOLA emergency alert across world All precautions in place, no cause for panic, says Health Minister Harsh Vardhan The disease and its symptoms: · The Ebola Virus Disease has fatality rate of up to 90%. It’s one of the world’s most virulent diseases · The infection is transmitted by direct contact with blood, body fluids & tissues of infected people · Symptoms include sudden onset of fever, intense weakness, muscle pain, headache, sore throat, vomitting, diarrhoea, rashes, impaired kidney and liver functions; external and internal bleeding · Lab findings include low white blood cells, platelet counts and elevated liver enzymes · Incubation period (when person is not infective) two to 21 days
